Edith Jacobson
Inizia nel 1925 la formazione psicoanalitica al Berliner Psychoanalytischen Institut. Suo analista didatta è Fenichel.
È nel gruppo degli psicoanalisti "di sinistra" (insieme a Reich, Bernfeld, Fromm, Simmel, Annie Reich, Georg Gero) che ruota intorno a Fenichel.
Nel 1938 emigra negli USA.
È presidente della New York Psychoanalytic Society dal 1954 al 1956.
Nel 1964 pubblica The self and the object world (ed. it. Il Sé e il mondo oggettuale, Martinelli, 1998) e, nel 1972, Depression: Comparative Studies of Normal, Neurotic and Psychotic Conditions.
